This morning, Teddy worked on recognizing addition strategies. He answered 32 addition within 20 questions. Then, he followed the color code to color each problem according to whether it was a doubles fact, doubles +1, +10, +9, make a ten, use ten, or +2 and +3 facts. He finished with an in/out table. Teddy determined the rule and completed the table.

Continue to practice writing letters and then words based on the sounds. Review the sight words introduced. Practice decoding words with the digraphs. Introduce the ph digraph. Write examples of it in the front, middle and end of words. Read a decodable book.

This morning, Teddy worked on the cumulative review section on understanding addition. He answered questions about representing addition, such as adding to and putting together, and applied these skills to solving word problems. Teddy also completed patterns to help with addition fluency. He finished with an adding 1 through 9 fast facts fluency.
Teddy learned about community helpers: baker, chef, cleaner, doctor, nurse, veterinarian, musician, mechanic and soldier. He colored pictures for each, traced the letters of the name of the job, and said the letters.
Today, Libby and Teddy started with a jog. Libby did her jog on the perimeter of the field and Teddy did his under the pavilion.
Next, both Libby and Teddy did several sets of push-ups and sit-ups.
For the remainder of the period Libby played basketball and Teddy played badminton.
Teddy and I used our imaginations to travel to a Spanish speaking country. After looking at images from different Spanish-speaking countries, including photos of the glaciers in Chile, he chose Mexico.
We imagined traveling by boat.
We discussed the population of Mexico. We discussed some of the sights. We said how he might see folkloric dance and watched one online.
Teddy completed his interactive calendar, read and discussed his vocabulary words, finished his calendar talk and calendar writing activity, worked on his phonics lesson, put together his daily sentence puzzle, read and discussed his Scholastic News Magazine story about being a lifeguard, and learned about the sun, the stars and the moon.
