Lesson Topic
Reaction rates
Lesson Outline
Continue with factors required in order for a reaction to occur, and then be able to measure the rate of reaction. Introduce the requirement of sufficient energy of reactant molecules be present, even if orientation of molecule collisions and number of collisions are met. Interpret energy diagram of both exothermic and endothermic reactions, labeling activation energy, change in energy and formation of activation complex. Lab to determine the pressure given the mass and volume and temperature.

reaction rate
Lesson Outline
Introduce chemical reaction rates. Discuss how to determine the average rate as the change of quantity over time. Introduce the formula change of quantity/change of time. Discuss the changes in terms of moles/liter seconds. Introduce initial and final concentration symbols and time symbols. Present an example to solve in class and one to solve at home.

gas laws
Lesson Outline
Rearrange the ideal gas law equation to be able to determine the molar mass, or the mass, or the density of a given amount of gas at a given temperature and pressure. Introduce some problems to be solved using the formula. Set up the lab to be used to determine the pressure on a gas when heated. Discuss real gas v ideal gas, list and discuss effect of low pressure and high temperature causing deviations from the ideal.

gas laws
Lesson Outline
Expand on Avogadro's principle to show how the moles of a gas can be determined from Avogadro's principle law. Introduce the ideal gas, discuss what each letter in the law represents, and how to solve for any one of them, knowing the other 4. Work some sample ideal gas law problems.
