Lesson Outline
Kip is a delightful student. We started the session by exploring his Google Classroom, and printing his assignments for the day. We discovered Quizlet in his Religion class. We spent a good part of the morning mastering the concepts and vocabulary to prepare him for his upcoming assessment. Next, we tackled his math assignments. Today, was lesson 16, part 2: Finding Area of Combined Shapes. Kip has good understanding & problem solving skills. He also scored 100% on his one minute division drill today. Additionally, he spent time on iready math reinforcing fractions on a number line again today. I noticed a big improvement in his confidence today. For reading, Kip read two persuasive passages. One persuading readers that schools should replace paper books with ebooks, and the other convincing readers not to. Kip demonstrates qualities of a good reader. He stretches out unknown words, reads with fluency, and asks clarifying questions to deepen his understanding. I told Kip he was a good reader and he said, "I am?". There were corresponding questions to answer again today, and he did a wonderful job responding and using evidence from the text to support his answers. Finally, there was a page in his vocabulary book to complete. He was given words and had to identify (or infer)the meaning. Kip scored 100% independently, and we ended the session on a very high note! I hope to work with Kip again in the future!
