Lesson Outline
Today I observed Jase as he completed 10.1. Here are some of the most important highlights of my observation: Jase demonstrates excellent coping and self-regulation skills. He maintained a calm demeanor, was not fidgety, and took deep breaths if he got frustrated. He seemed to have the highest level of frustration while working on the writing portion of the exit assessment. During the lesson, he clicked through without speaking his answers to the interactive portions out loud. At no point during the lesson did he ask for help. He only asked for help spelling the words "suit" and "body" during the written portion of the exit assessment. At the end of his module, I interviewed him with the following questions. What do you like about L.A.? "I like when they gave me interesting stories to read." What don't you like about L.A.? Paraphrasing, he doesn't like the essays/writing portions; he feels like the pacing is too quick. What do you feel like you're good at in L.A.? Paraphrasing, reading comprehension. What is difficult for you? Writing What you want/need from me? To step in sometimes. Sometimes I'll ask for it. Sometimes I want you to just step in.

Lesson Comments
I'm a little confused about my purpose with him. Am I expected to watch him do his language arts portal for online school? Do you know what his mom is expecting me to do?

Other observation notes: He didn't really engage/interact with the curriculum. He has excellent reading fluency and reading comprehension. I was taken aback by the strangeness of the digital platform, as I had never experienced a virtual elementary school platform like that. It was jarring to watch him loosely engage with it.
