Jack read ‘How Bear Lost His Tail’ a story slightly above his independent reading level. Our focus while reading was using strategies for working out unfamiliar words, especially blending letter sounds to decode. We also practiced reading on to look for clues to unknown words using a “Does that make sense? Does it look right? Does it sound right?” questioning approach.
