Dolphin Survey -
Paige participated in a scientific survey of dolphins along the oceanic coast of Palm Beach County. The Survey started at the Jupiter Inlet, and was directed south with the Palm Beach inlet as the terminal destination. Dolphins were encountered within 15 minutes and they were approached directly. Each dolphin was photographed and the group was monitored for several hours. The group started as four, and grew to about 25 when we decided it was time to leave them and head back to the Jupiter Inlet. Paige helped collect data, keeping notes on the behavior and swim direction the dolphins were exhibiting. She also collected Video of the dolphin behavior. She was given instruction on the natural history and biology of bottlenose dolphins and the marine environment in south Florida. Paige was asked to submit a video and a short written report about her experience on the dolphin survey.
