Jason began with a daily review on counting coins, writing the time, adding 3 addends, and 3-D shape names. Today's lesson focused on counting back to subtract tens and ones on an open number line. Jason used an open number line to subtract tens and ones using hops and jumps to decompose 2-digit numbers and help develop place-value understanding and computational fluency.
For today's class Jason was able to recruit another student and we were able to play an actual game.
Each student and I took turns being the pitcher, batter and outfielder.
Together, write steps of how to play baseball. Next we will take these steps and see if they are able to show someone new how to play. Show Jason that the steps can be added to, changed, and erased as needed...also called editing. This entailed going outside, saying the steps, and doing them to see if they worked.
Substitute for Mr. Matthew for basketball. After doing some indoor stretches that Jason taught to me from his coaches at school and soccer, we talked about how to stretch the mind as well using non-digital things. We then used hand puppets to create a story with different voices and personalities for the animals. We then talked about how using our imaginations to stretch our minds is just as important as stretching our muscles to stay flexible.
Jason completed is interactive calendar. He reviewed his old vocabulary words, and learned his new vocabulary words for December. He put together his daily sentence puzzle. He explored our new graphing chart on owl facts, and watched a video about owls. He labeled the owl's body parts.
Today we will review and have Fun with stances.
The three basic stances: are the horse stance and how it is used along with Front stances, and cat stances.
Kicks and punches will be practiced from the stances and how to move in the stance.
The cardio workout will be light sparring and finish with sit-ups.

Lesson Comments
Jason had too much fun today, as it was the last day before the break.
Jason and I reviewed his Our Community unit words: address, border, capital, continent, environment, location, neighborhood, symbols, transportation and globe. He read them and we made sentences for each word.
Today, Jason continued the lesson on subtracting tens and ones on a hundreds chart to help develop mental math strategies and number sense by recognizing patterns. Jason looked at counting on and counting back as two strategies to find differences as we completed examples together. Then, he used a hundreds chart and mental math to answer the odd questions from the lesson's practice problems.
