Jason slept through the entire class. He had fallen asleep in his previous class, and despite some attempts to wake him, he stayed asleep until lunch time.
Jason completed chart on page 69 in the Inquiry Journal about types of maps and key details about maps. We read the texts "Our Country" and "Physical Maps" on pages 58-61 in the Research Companion. He analyzed a political map of the United States and physical map of the western part of the United States.
Jason was introduced to the words left, right, and straight.
We then used those words to have Jason give me directions from his room to different destinations around the school. Our destinations included the drama room to get two avatars for our next activity, out to the playground, and back to his classroom.
Jason was able to comprehend the direction words so quickly that we added the word vamos to our session today instead of saving it for tomorrow's session.
We would travel on foot toward our destination, and at each decision point, he would have to say left, right, or straight guiding us toward our destination.
We then got to play a game where Jason gave directions to his blue beetle each turn on how to make it to the key that opens the lock.
Jason worked on single-digit addition problems in class today. He answered correctly when queried but said he was becoming "stressed" when asked to complete a minute-math exercise, so I modified the activity and Jason completed the assignment orally. Jason was very impressed when he answered a multiplication question I added in the mix, and he laughed hysterically when my mouth dropped open in an exaggerated fashion to indicate how impressed I was with his mathematical skill.

I subbed for Maylie this morning, Thursday, 12/12/24 for Math from 10:34 - 11:19.
Jason continues to work on his hitting skills.
Today, we started to work on his catching skills.
We used a rubber kickball. We started out very easy and we got progressively harder.
These hand-eye drills will help him in all parts of his game.
Jason read about political maps and analyzed a political map of the USA on pages 66-67 in the Inquiry Journal. He read about borders and capital cities. He identified capital cities and states. He underlined clues in the text that tell him what a political map shows and what a capital city is.
