Interactive Calendar Vocabulary Owls Daily Sentence Puzzle Made an Angel

Jason completed his interactive calendar. He put together his daily sentence puzzle. He read and discussed his vocabulary words. He completed several owl activities. He made an angel ornament for the Christmas tree.
Jason was very tired this morning and was asleep when I began class at 9:00. I attempted to rouse him but he resisted efforts and immediately fell back asleep.
We worked on several different items while we played. We worked on Jason positioning his body in relation to home plate. We worked on him being safe with the equipment and making good judgment.
We worked on adding power to his swing.
Jason had some monster hits and did a great job watching the ball all the way to contact.
Today's strategy involved breaking apart a one-digit number into two parts to make it easier to subtract mentally. Jason broke apart the one-digit number into two parts and subtracted the two parts from two-digit numbers. The first part was subtracted to make the nearest 10, and then the remaining part was subtracted using the friend of 10 strategy. Jason completed the practice problems and the quick quiz question.
Jason and I read the following passages on pages 52-57 in the Research Companion: "In My Neighborhood", "Maps Help Us", "A Picture and a Map", and "Central Park". I asked comprehension questions. He identified the labels, compass rose, map key and symbols on the "Map of Hilltop School." We compared and contrasted the photos and maps of parks. We compared and contrasted the different parks.
Jason completed his interactive calendar. He read and discussed his vocabulary words. He put together his daily sentence puzzle. He read and discussed his Scholastic News Magazine article about Owls. He made a mini booklet about Owls.
Jason and I read pages 52-57 in the Research Companion. He interpreted a map of a school. He identified the title, key, symbols and compass rose. He completed a table writing down how each map features helps you read a map.
