Remington chose to be dramatic by reading from his "Captain Underpants" book. I guided him through the first few chapters, using voices when possible. After a few minutes, Remington caught on. Once prompted, he was able to be dramatic taking on the voice of characters from the book.
Remington was very excited to check the rain gauge. Unfortunately, the rain gauge had little to no water in it. We went back to his office so he could chart the rain for Monday and Tuesday. We used MSN Weather to get the information we needed. Then, we read a weather book and discussed tornadoes, hurricanes, dust storms, and temperatures. Remington was able to come up with a plan for each of the storms.

This morning, Remington and I discussed how maps can help show us locations within a classroom, community, state, country, or the world. We focused on a community map and how to find the locations of different buildings by looking for street names. Then, we drew our own map with Pokemon named streets and buildings.
Today, we began with an example on the whiteboard on representing a 2-digit number in standard, expanded, and word form, as well as with base ten blocks. Remington was also given a number word wall reference and shown how to find the word form of numbers. Then, he played a matching game to reinforce the lesson, using flashcards to match 2-digit numbers with all of their different ways. Finally, Remington completed the lesson's practice problems and spiral review questions.
Remi and I reviewed what we discussed about weather last week. Today we explored a few Nearpod lessons touching on tornadoes, lightning, and storms in general. We learned that tornadoes are formed when positive and negative charges come together. In addition, we learned that tornadoes travel at 500 km/hr. About 2/3 of tornadoes happen in the Midwest. Not only that, but meteorologists help people get ready for storms. Remi took notes in his Science Notebook.
1. Brain Warm up- "Alpha Toss"
2. Chart Tapping- Chart 1, Point and Say dictation

Remington worked hard today. He seemed well rested.
Today, we continued with our lesson on understanding place value. We began with a quick video showing numbers within a place value house to help Remington visualize the value of each digit within a 2- and 3-digit number. Then, we played a race to 100 place value game to reinforce the lesson. We took turns rolling a number cube, taking that amount of ones cubes, trading groups of 10 ones for a tens stick, and trading 10 tens sticks for a hundreds block to win the game. Next, Remington completed the lesson's practice problems on drawing quick pictures to model 2-digit numbers and describing the numbers as tens and ones and in expanded form. Finally, Remington practiced basic addition facts by adding 2 number cubes to find sums.

During today's computer lab session with Remington, the internet was used to research the cause and effects of dangerous tornados. Short instructional videos of tornados and actual Youtube videos of F-5 tornados in Moore , Oklahoma were viewed to demonstrate the power of severe weather. Remi was particularly interested in this topicbecause at 4 years old he witnessed his mother's restaurant being heavily damaged by a tornado in Palm Beach county.
