Choices 1, 2, or 3:
1. Animals of My Past, Present, and Future Drawing to promote self-awareness and self-reflection:
The assignment is to select three animals: 1) one animal to represent your past: where you have been, 2) a second animal to represent your present: who you are now, and 3) a third one to represent your future: your goals and dreams.
Don’t worry about making the animals perfect. Draw them from your imagination. You can represent them in a cartoon or illustrative way using pencil, ink pen, colored pencils, and markers. Think about an environment that unifies each animal and create that too as part of your drawing. It can be an imaginary world of your choosing.
2. Silly Drawing Prompts to Open the Imagination: Draw a chicken skydiving
3. Continue working on your current project independently.
Cam chose #3 and continued to work on our Brag Wall.
For the first day of Art Studio Upper School, I asked each student to draw a tree in his sketchbook. It could be any kind of tree from memory or imagination. This drawing exercise is valuable, as it shows how each student has his own individual artistic style. PJ knew immediately that he wanted to draw a pine tree, as it is his favorite kind of tree. He confidently jumped right in and worked hard on his tree! He added bold color! It is refreshing to see confidence in the art studio! I am looking forward to working more with PJ!

His tree was a mushroom-like tree growing out of a head of a man. How clever! His use of line and shading was thoughtful and well done! I am looking forward to seeing more exciting work from Aiden, and I am happy to be working with him in Drawing 1! I see great potential!

This drawing exercise is valuable, as it shows how each student has his own individual artistic style. Cam had the insight to include the roots of the tree, the middle part of the tree, and the branches and leaves. His finished tree drawing is excellent! His use of shading to create volume, drama, and texture is skillful! He took his time and was thoughtful about his artist's signature. Well done, Cam!
