We examined a map identifying the Northern, Middle, Southern, and Backcountry identities, which we found helpful as a review. Major facts about the new and unique American identity included: a common history, from a shared English background; a disregard of indigenous rights, which led to the belief that land was cheap and available; an emerging middle class; power for landowners; increased tolerance for religious differences (because of religious diversity; and shared enemies - from wars with indigenous peoples.
We looked at constitutional powers of the President and compared them to other country's policies. We also defined key terms like "Executive Privilege" and "Mandate".
Today, we watched a video depicting the Executive Branch of the US Government and discussed who actually votes for the president. Andrew did an excellent job completing Assignment 2 on our local legislative district.
We reviewed Andrew's assignment on Committees and he did an excellent job using Canva. He will begin working on Assignment 2 to demonstrate his presentation skills and knowledge of our state legislature highlighted in Ch. 8
