The teacher presented six basic verbs to the students using images in a PowerPoint. The teacher pronounced each verb aloud, and the students repeated after the teacher. Next, the students completed a worksheet where they identified each picture and wrote the correct verb. To reinforce learning, the teacher and students played a game in which one student acted out a verb whispered by the teacher, and the other students had to guess the verb.

Teddy, Libby, and Remi were present in this class.
We took a nature walk to find items on our list. Each student had a clipboard with a Nature Walk sheet. As we found things in nature, we checked "yes" on the sheet. If we didn't find the object, we checked "no". Then, we created a drawing including the objects we found on our nature walk.
United States History: Florida Flag, State Seal, Motto, and Capital
Lesson Outline
We used the big box of colored pencils to color the Florida flag and State Seal according to the key. I asked Libby and Remington what a key is and how it is used. Libby said it is a guide. That's a very good definition. We looked at the key to guide us to use the correct colored pencil for the parts of the Florida flag and the State Seal. Then we learned about the state motto and wrote that on the worksheet, Lastly, we learned the state capital and spelled it out on the worksheet. Then I asked Libby and Remington to spell Tallahassee out loud with me few times.
This morning, we continued our lesson on Florida and the symbols that represent our state. We learned about the state flag and seal of Florida, which were then colored and glued into the social studies journal. Then, we used a map of Florida to discuss important locations within the state.
The Lower School artists were creating on large scale paper using chalk and oil pastel and watercolor paint. They drew swirls of lines and painted blocks of color to create their artworks. It was very inspiring to see them work!
Using circles as the theme, each student created designs in color with markers, watercolors, oil and chalk pastels, and colored pencils within their circles to create interesting patterns and compositions.
