Lesson Outline
S: Noah was seen at the Batt School for treatment. Noah was noted to be in a silly mood throughout session. Initial difficulty with remaining on task noted, as well as frequent redirection to task throughout the session. O: Noah first participated in an alphabet identification task, identifying the letters within his name. Noah identified the letters provided with 75% accuracy. Next, he was asked what does not belong in a group of 4 items. He completed the task with 65% accuracy. After, Noah was asked to sort items provided into 2 provided categories. He completed the activity with 80% accuracy. Then, Noah participated in an alphabet identification task, identifying letters A-J. Noah identified the letters provided with 50% accuracy. Lastly, Noah completed a sight word matching activity in which he was asked to match the sight word provided to the correct sight word in a field of 3 answer choices. He completed the activity with 100% accuracy. A: Noah displays consistency/increases across most goals. Interpret decreases with caution due to difficulty with remaining on task. P: Continue POC.

MAPs
Lesson Outline
Andrew wasn't himself today. He was quiet and withdrawn. I tried to get him to open up, but he just said he was tired. I feel like there is more to it though.
We had MAPs testing today. He worked hard on it, but several times stopped to say he couldn't focus. It was a bit noisy around us, so I asked Megan to ask the other students to quiet down and they did. However, Andrew definitely had something else on his mind. He worked the whole period but did not finish the MAPS test. He will have to resume next class.

reading comprehension
Lesson Outline
I evaluated Luca's reading comprehension ability using the Gray's Oral Read Test (GORT), 5th edition. Luca demonstrated strong fluency (comprised of reading rate and accuracy) but below-grade-level comprehension skills. I believe Luca would benefit from instruction and practice of reading comprehension strategies.

Lesson Comments
I planned to prepare summer work for Luca to complete independently, but upon reflection, I am dubious that he will complete the work. I suggest talking to the mom, asking her if she would prefer to bring him in for sessions over the summer.

phonics evaluation
Lesson Outline
I evaluated Luca's phonics abilities using the Quick Phonics Screener. Luca did well, efficiently decodintg both "nonsense" and "real" words" . Next, I administered a spelling diagnositic test. Again, Luca did well, demonstrating grade-level appropriate spelling.

MAPS
Lesson Outline
Ben was reluctant to begin today. I had him the period after lunch and when I walked in he said, "Wait, lunch is over!?!" He was bummed he did not have time to finish his lunch. I encouraged him to finish eating while I got computers and signed us into the MAPs test. He took advantage of the offer and was still not ready when it was time to begin. I told him he had two more minutes. When time was up I asked him to put away his computer and food. He did. He then began his MAP Testing. He put in his best effort. Today he was working on a problem involving lines and he had the right thought process but couldn't recall what to do. That concept is important for us to build upon so we will review it when he is done MAP Testing. He worked diligently the rest of the period. He did not finish his MAP Test. I informed Megan so she can put him on the schedule for at least one more period.

Review FRQs
Lesson Outline
Today Joshua and I worked on Free Response Questions in a Mock Exam. They were very challenging and were a good review of many concepts. The first problem gave us information on a piston that oscillated up and down. The given information included its maximum and minimum heights and how high the piston was above ground level. We were first asked to find what the coordinates of various points on the graph could be. Then we were asked to write a sinusoidal function that could model various points. Then we were asked to find the period, amplitude and phase shift. Joshua and I worked together to brainstorm possibilities. We checked our solutions to see we got it right! Then we tried another FRQ involving logarithms and exponential functions. Josh took the lead on this problem. He ran into some trouble remembering properties of logs, so it was a good review for him. We did not finish this question (it has multiple parts), so Josh will finish it for HW.

Unit Circle
Lesson Outline
Today Matthew and I drew a unit circle on a coordinate plane and we started with the obvious coordinates (1,0), (0,1), (-1,0), and (0,-1). Next we labeled the multiples of 30 degrees, 45 degrees, and 60 degrees. We considered what those angle measures were in radians and labeled those as well. Next, we proved using the Pythagorean theorem, the coordinates of the multiples of 45 degrees. Matthew was then able to complete the unit circle. Then we related the unit circle back to the x and y values of each point. Matthew recalled that sine goes with y, x goes with cosine and tangent is y/x. He was able to answer questions like sin(pi), cos(300), tan(-45). We will continue with this tomorrow.
