Lesson Outline
Bobby finished writing the first draft of his expository essay on what makes him unique, he typed it up, and we edited it together. He then read another short story by Roald Dahl, titled "Skin." He then did a compare/contrast exercise comparing "Royal Jelly" and "Skin," including elements like characters, setting, tone, and literary devices that contributed to mood and tone.

Think about a controversial topic that he would like to learn more about for a project during the next nine weeks.

We focused on preparing a work bank consisting of key terms, phrases and individuals while practicing the chapter review questions. I have encouraged Bobby to reread the text for homework and to pay close attention to highlighted vocabulary and not to omit information from pictures, inserts or subheadings.

This afternoon Bobby and I continued to work on his arachnid presentation. Bobby has completed the introduction, the spider morphology and the old world versus new world sections. We directed our attention to a comparison between arboreal and terrestrial spiders. Bobby prepared an outline to compare and contrast these two different spider types. We discussed some of the possible reasons that arboreal spiders have much stronger venom than their terrestrial counterparts.
