This afternoon Bobby and I discussed his next digital presentation which will feature an expose on arachnids, invertebrates with particular emphasis on tarantulas and endangered species. This presentation will complement the recent additions to the Bobby's science component.
This afternoon Bobby and I continued our study of those countries that make up the Mediterranean region by taking a closer look at the relationship between Sparta and Athens. We reviewed the homework from page 291 before moving forward. Homework for tonight is to read pages 292-297 and complete problems 1-4.
This morning we continue our practice solving proportions and converting expressions to scale with, and without units. We worked on the problems on page 314 #'s 32-35. page 334-335 #'s 7-10 and 13-16.

The session began with vocabulary building. Bobby was asked to apply meanings to the vocabulary words and solve some analogies. The remainder of the time was used to type the paragraph Bobby wrote on sneakers.
Bobby read brief descriptions about different species of sharks and fish before choosing one of each to write about. He chose a Megalodon shark and a Japanese flying squid to research further. Initially, Bobby determined all of the differences he could find between these two species which came easier than their similarities. The information was written in compare and contrast columns on his writing page to reference for further writing.
This morning Bobby and I practiced converting scale measurements into proportions by completing problems 12-24 on page 314. Bobby and I identified a simple two-step approach that we will include in our instruction manual as requested by Dr. Y. Bobby did a good job of completing the first four problems and appeared to grasp the basic concept in questions.
This morning Bobby and I accomplished two important tasks regarding our robot and our mantis. We took a census of our remaining population in the larger aquarium in preparation for transferring them to their new homes this afternoon. Secondly, we performed our first field test for the completed robot tank. This is the first of several versions of this robot format. We were really excited to see that the wiring or polarity on all motors were in synch with our controller and the robot performed flawlessly. Bobby performed some simple maneuvers including picking up and retrieving various objects and driving the bot around corners, in classrooms etc.
Our science class spilled over into the social studies component. This was unavoidable given the fact that we were in the process of moving mantids and releasing the last of the three tarantulas.
This afternoon Bobby and I focused on two important areas- setting up the additional mantis habitats using two liter bottles, eco bark and leaf litter and releasing the second Poecelitheria rufilata. Bobby will be receiving a "crash course" on invertebrates and arachnids beginning with a power point presentation on tarantula diversity and adaptation.
