Cabo and I read for comprehension a passage in the textbook concerning extended family and the role that it plays in many Mexican households. In the process we discussed the history and culture of Mexico.

Cabo was particularly focused in class.

We also discussed the origins of Cinco de Mayo.

Vocabulary Quizzes part 2
Lesson Outline
Cabo studied today for different vocabulary quizzes.

We are focusing on the vocabulary of this chapter in particular because Cabo seemed to struggle with the vocabulary section of the last Spanish test the most.

Cabo then took the quiz. Instead of writing each of the words 1 time each today, we simply reviewed any of the vocabulary that he got wrong aloud.

Cabo was tasked with creating a study guide for himself dealing with the checklist of steps needed to use a reflexive verb correctly.

He wrote out the guide and was able to use it effectively on the two review exercises that he completed today.

He finished the session looking up vocabulary from the master list of vocabulary for the chapter.

Cabo had his best class of the year to date today.

He was attentive, focused, and hardworking.

We worked on review sentences from the chapter. We then did 4 review exercises from the book.

Chapter Review: Los Mochileros (Backpackers)

Cabo and I started on our chapter review. We read a multi-paragraph composition about backpackers and their adventures in this country and others.

We discussed the passage as we read it. Afterwards, Cabo answered questions from the text. While he disagreed philosophically with some of the ideas in the book, he was able to answer the questions in a satisfactory manner.

Reflexive Verbs: Application

Cabo had a very productive day. He and I worked together on 5 different pages from the textbook. One of our chief exercises today was reading a dialogue provided in the book. Cabo exhibited rapid understanding of the content of dialogue - sufficiently so as to be able to apply the proper intonation on his first read through.

While not important for the grade, he did a great job with his acting. It seems to be a talent of his.
