Kaitlin read many vocabulary words dealing with school and classes.
She has a quiz tomorrow and should study for the quiz.
While reading during this session we used a format where the teacher would read and the student would make educated guesses based on context as to the meaning of the words.
Kaitlin made some great educated guesses. If she ever made a guess that was not completely accurate, we would fix that information immediately and proceed.
David was given an incredibly brief period of time to ask any questions or review material.
He then started his test again. He was not permitted to revisit any sections that he had previously done.
Toward the end of the test today, he was barred from starting new sections and directed to look over the questions he had already answered. This was to help maximize his score and maintain test intergrity.
Today, Kaitlin was tasked with 1) looking at the chapter review first 2) skimming the chapter 3) identifying the most important information from the chapter 4) writing that information in her notebook 5) teaching me that information.
She did an excellent job. She was able to effectively skim the chapter and identify key pages. She wrote down critical vocabulary and verb charts.
She was able to teach me how to conjugate the regular verb hablar while looking at her notes. She was also able to identify patterns in the conjugations of the verbs Ir, Dar, Estar.

Note to self: Kaitlin said that she prefers this style of learning. May want to use this option at the start of the next chapter as well.
He demonstrated a solid understanding of the possessive pronouns and of the tener conjugations today. He could use a little more polishing on his vocabulary.
He started to take his test. Toward the end of class, he was asked to stop at the current section that he was taking so that he could resume next class.
Kaitlin was given some general guidelines and time to review independently for her test. She asked good questions during her independent review which let me know she was actively preparing.
Kaitlin and I then reviewed briefly together.
She worked diligently on her test for the remainder of the session. She employed some good test taking strategies.
Exotic Pets & Test Prep: Tener, Possessive Pronouns, and Vocabulary

He then copied the Tener verb tree onto his study page.
We read several paragraphs about pets that people have in the Spain and Latin America including the Galapagos Islands. We discussed the reading. David told me about some birds that his family had.
Quiz Grade: 5.5/10. David briefly reviewed for his quiz. He then took his quiz. He was able to fix some of the errors that he had made while taking his quiz which is a great skill. His performance on his quiz was lower than that of previous quizzes. We discussed what he thought the difference was and he reported that he had mixed up two of the tener conjugations and forgotten about the conjugations for nosotros. We discussed quiz taking strategies. Luckily for David, the tests are weighted heavier than the quizzes in this class and he will have an opportunity to fix any gaps in knowledge prior to his test.
We then read about an Equatorian family. David did a good job reading. We discussed the reading while answering some questions from the text.

David seemed to get a little distracted at the very end of the class. We spoke about this to call attention to it. It is not a pattern as of yet so I am not worried.
Kaitlin reviewed briefly and then took her Tener Quiz. She did very well. She could benefit from focusing on her spelling for the conjugations of the verb tener.
Fantastic job on your quiz Kaitlin!
Kaitlin and I then read about pets in the Americas. We compared pet practices in the US with those of Latin America.
We read about llamas and parrots and the popularity of pets in the city versus the country.
