We looked at the packet regarding the most used verbs in Spanish. We read the list of verbs and translated them.

Lesson Outline
We spoke about telling and asking for the time. Our discussion included common phrases like "and a quarter," and "and a half."

We also discussed the weather diving into the sometimes dubious cognates tiempo and estaciones. I asked David questions about the seasons and weather.

We reviewed numbers highlighting the numbers that have accent marks (16, 26, 22, 23). We watched a video with a song for the days of the week.

We reviewed greetings, farewells.

We then discussed numbers 1-100 making sure to ask specific questions of what may appear on the upcoming test.

David had questions about currencies in other countries. We discussed them briefly.

We discussed days of the week and months of the year getting into details such as the fact that these days are not capitalized when written in Spanish.

We briefly reviewed greetings, farewells, numbers 1-100, days, dates.

Then we quickly moved into telling time and discussing weather. While Kaitlin does seem to benefit from this brief review of these preliminary topics we continue to move through them rapidly as she seems to have a good foundation with them.

Lastly, we finished with some statistics given by the Spanish Royal Academy on which 12 verbs are used the most in the Spanish language. We will focus our efforts on these verbs this year.

Kaitlin and I covered multiple topics today as she already had a solid foundation with many of them.

We discussed greetings (verbal and physical gestures), farewells, courteous speech, numbers 1-100, days of the week and months of the year.

Given her strong foundation, I encouraged her to vary and expand her expression. She did a great job taking notes.

We spoke about the spread of the Spanish language throughout the world. We looked at the geographical location of Spain and discussed its proximity to parts of Africa and Europe. We spoke about how the Spanish language reflects its ties to African countries and other countries. We spoke of the strategic significance of the strait of Gibraltar and the Panama Canal.

Kaitlin had some wonderful insights regarding the languages that people in her life speak and the countries they visit.
