We reviewed our lesson from last class. David was able to remember several components and technical vocabulary such as conjugation and what it means.
We spoke about Spanish conjugations. We gave examples of conjugations in English and Spanish. David exhibited a solid understanding of the basic concept of conjugating through the questions that he asked and comments that he made during our lesson.
David was given two opportunities (total of ~3 min) to practice the alphabet in Spanish in class. Today he would have received a 100% on all the letters except U, and J.
We checked the homework that was due today - giving specific notes to the student regarding any corrections that should be made.
David appeared to have practiced on his own. However, had not made a video or audio recording prior to the start of class which will be reflected in his homework grade.
We translated a sentence that we use for navigating the segments of our class. We highlighted how quickly the information that is being learned will be implemented into our daily process. This was a pertinent example as the majority of the sentence translated was already in David's glossary. He did not immediately recognize the already written terms. So, I invited him to watch for them in the future.
We then read the book title, chapter title, and 1st paragraph of the supplemental text. We worked together to form functional translations of each of them.
We then introduced the concept of verb conjugation giving examples in both Spanish and English.
We discussed how the verbs in Spanish are the keys of the language and how much of our efforts while studying Spanish will be vocabulary acquisition and verb conjugation.

Study for test - Tranisition to studying for Alphabet Test without aids
David briefly reviewed the material that we covered last class by naming the elements that he remembered. He was given time in class today to practice his alphabet sounds. He took a practice test and was scored at a mid B to low B letter grade mainly due to skipping some of the letters accidently. He has a strong foundation for his -rr sound. I encourage him to practice it frequently. He built a glossary in the back of his notebook adding the following words and phrases: repaso, vamos a, tarea to aid with navigating his daily conversations. We discussed the process of accessing a new language and adding layers of understanding through repetition. We then reread the paragraphs from yesterday.
