We continue to work on writing letters with correct formation and size. Richard enjoyed listening to 'The Big Relay Race'. He did well drawing a picture of what happened in the beginning, middle and end of the story. He confidently stated the setting, problem and solution. Additionally, Richard circled the word that matched the picture shown. We ended our time together early today because Richard was not feeling well.

We spent time today setting up Richard's computer with math and language arts activities. He did well on letter-sound correspondence and categorizing. We began a unit on geometry. Richard enjoyed a shape identification game. He did well identifying all the rectangular shapes within a picture.

Richard read short vowel words and then wrote the word under the picture it named. He worked hard on rhyme recognition, onset fluency, isolating the final sound and language awareness. Richard did well on a cut and paste, story sequencing activity. He earned a 100% on an assessment on greater than/less than. We practiced single-digit subtraction and number recognition from 0-100. He enjoyed a game of 'Connect 4 Addition'.

Richard did well reading words with the short e vowel sound and circling the picture it names. He read, 'A Jog With Me', a short book with short vowel and sight words. Richard listened to a story about a boy that compares his emotions to different animals. Print and plot elements were identified and discussed. He wrote in his journal comparing himself to a cheetah. Richard did well on number dictation of numbers from 0-20. We continue to work on subtraction and the concepts of greater than/less than and more and fewer.

Given three pictures, Richard confidently chose the two that rhymed and then created another word that rhymed. He worked on rhyme recognition, onset fluency, isolating final sounds and language awareness. Richard did well reading a short story that utilized short vowel sound words. He was tasked with writing his name with correct sizing. Richard did well on number identification, identifying greater than and less than in sets and numbers and reciting the days of the week. He continued to work on a color by number subtraction activity. Richard counted 100 beans. We continue to work on making the transitions to the next ten group when counting.

Richard continues to practice increasingly more difficult rhyme production, identification of initial and final sounds and blending, segmenting, adding and deleting syllables. Richard enjoyed listening to 'Oh the Pets You Can Get'. Focus was on print and plot elements and genre. Richard wrote in his journal that he would like to have a guard dog. He did well determining which number was less than/greater than a given number. Richard began to work on a color by number subtraction activity.
