Richard read words with the short e sound, identified the pictures the words named and then wrote the words on the corresponding line. He worked hard to write dictated sentences. We will continue to practice proper spacing and sizing of words and letters. Richard practiced writing the letters I and T correctly, with the base of the letters on the line. He did well telling time to the hour and completing given patterns. Given two sets, Richard correctly identified which had a greater number of objects.

We continue to work on rhyme production, initial and final sounds of words, and blending, segmenting, adding and deleting syllables. Richard practiced writing S and A with proper sizing. He did well subtracting one digit numbers using pictures, identifying numbers from 0-100 and counting by tens using a 100 grid. Richard is a hard worker who takes pride in learning.

Richard did well on two Christmas themed phonics activities, one focusing on initial sounds and the other on final sounds. With help, Richard created a sequence chart, using time ordered words, to describe the process of decorating a Christmas tree. He confidently added one-digit numbers using the counting on method. Additionally, Richard worked on a Christmas craft.

Richard did well reading a short book that consisted of short vowel words and sight words. Given pictures, Richard wrote the words and then created and wrote another word that rhymed with his written words. Richard confidently wrote the numbers that came before and after a given number. We continue to practice sight words, and subtracting one-digit numbers utilizing pictures. Richard earned a 100% on an assessment on time.

Richard enjoyed folloiwing one step oral directions with a Christmas theme. Given a nonsense word, Richard was able to state a real word that rhymed. Given a word, Richard did well choosing the word with the same initial sound. We continue to work on time to the hour and number recognition. Subtraction with pictures and manipulatives were introduced.

Richard worked on writing the letters C and O using proper sizing. He benefits from encouragement to write more slowly. He did well reading short vowel words and circling the corresponding picture. We continue to practice rhyming, identifying the initial and final sound, and blending, segmenting and deleting syllables. Richard worked hard to read a repetitive story entitled, 'Gus and Mom'. Ten frames were introduced. Given a clock with missing numbers, Richard confidently filled in the correct numbers. He really enjoyed a game of 'Connect Four' addition which encouraged Richard to utilize the counting on strategy when one-digit numbers.
