We continue to practice sight words, rhyming, identifying the initial and final sounds of a word and syllable segmentation and blending. He enjoyed using the whiteboard to write numbers 0-10 as they were dictated. Richard has made a lot of progress in reading numbers 0-99. We will continue to work on this skill. Richard did very well reciting the days of the week and telling time to the hour.

Richard did well determining the short vowel sounds in given pictures. He enjoyed listening to 'Cyrus the Unsinkable Sea Serpent'. Focus was on print and plot elements, as well as recall and sequence. A paper turkey and farm scene were used to practice position words. Richard enjoyed a Thanksgiving activity in which he wrote what he was thankful for on paper feathers and then glued them on to a paper turkey that he colored.

Richard enjoyed a cut and paste activity involving rhyming. He did well reading sentences that were comprised of one syllable short vowel words and sight words. Richard practiced writing the letters H, K, L, and U and the numbers 8 and 9. He used the 100 chart to complete a cut and paste, count by tens activity. Richard did well reading numbers on the 100 chart that he randomly chose with his eyes closed. He confidently completed the color by sum picture he started yesterday.

Richard began creating a book entitled, 'I Am'. With help, he will write a sentence and draw a picture for each page. He continued to work on the color by sum picture he started earlier in the day. Richard enjoyed working online, using his phonics skills to rhyme, spell three letter, short vowel words, and to match words to pictures.

Richard worked hard on sentence dictation. We continue to practice identifying rhymes and initial and final sounds in a word, as well as blending, adding and deleting syllables. Together we read 'Go Pip'. Richard did well retelling the story and making personal connections to what we read. Given a 100 chart, Richard was able to count by tens independently. He began a color by sum picture of a turkey.

Richard practiced blending, adding and deleting syllables, as well as reading one syllable, short vowel words. He really enjoyed listening to 'A Fish Out of Water'. Plot and print elements were discussed. The concepts of fewer and more were practiced with pictures and manipulatives. We continue to practice counting by tens. The strategy of 'counting on' when adding was introduced.

Richard did very well with his sight words, counting by tens and reciting the days of the week. In phonics blending, adding, deleting and substituting syllables were introduced. Richard worked hard to read a story entitled, 'Jog with Me'. Without being asked, he named the genre and the setting. Richard practiced writing the letter Z and the number 9 today. The concepts of more and same as, along with one more and two more, were reviewed with pictures and manipulatives. Richard worked hard and did his best.

Sight words, plot elements, and addition to the sum of ten were reviewed and practiced. Richard requested and enjoyed a game of number (0-10) bingo. He is learning how to count by tens. We are so happy to have Richard back at school!

Richard did well reading three letter, short syllable words. We continue to practice identifying the initial and final sound of words, blending and segmenting and determining if statements are facts or opinions. Richard enjoyed listening to 'A Fly Went By'. Focus was on genre, sequence and characterization. Print elements were identified. Richard did well telling time to the hour and determining the missing number in a sequence of numbers. He practiced naming numbers from 0-99. Skip counting by tens was introduced.
