I read another Pinkalicious story to Arianna. Today we read aloud "Pinkalicious and the Pink Hat Parade". It was a really cute story and Arianna liked how in the end Pinkalicious gave her trophy to her brother. In reading she read me a story on Raz Kids called "Little". Then she drew a picture of something little, a butterfly. In math we watched videos on counting 1-10, 1-100, and skip counting to 100. We ended our time doing a few brain break educational dance videos by Go Noodle.
Gracyn wrote her spelling words once each today. After we did her morning work and free writing. We talked about compound words and did a cute spring worksheet where she had to match words to make compound words. Today she read a level E Raz Kids story "Bear and Kangaroo". I didn't tell her what level the story was. She read the story beautifully using expression! I was so proud of her. I told her after that it was a level E...She couldn't believe how easy it was! I said it is because it is your level! Next we watched a video on river animals.
Today I read Arianna a story from Pinkalicious! She was so excited to see that I had brought in some of her favorite stories to read! Next it was her turn to read to me. First she re-read her favorite Raz Kids story "The Birthday Party". Then she read "The Coast". She drew a picture of her favorite thing to do at the beach. She said play in the waves of course! Next we watched our favorite counting videos by Jack Hartmann. We watching the counting 1-100 with "zero the hero" and also the teen number song. Then we ended our time doing some fun brain break dance videos by Go Noodle. She may tell you about the roller coaster and dinosaur videos...those are her favorite!
Today Gracyn's lesson was on using the calendar. We went over how many days in a month. How many weeks in a year. How many months in a year. We went over the days of the week. Gracyn got to picked her favorite day of the week and drew a picture to show what she does on that day. Gracyn picked Saturday and drew a picture of her playing softball.
Today Gracyn was introduced to her new spelling words. They are mostly words from the -am and -ack word families with the bonus word "pretty". She wrote each word once. We completed her morning work together and in writing she wrote two strong sentences about her new doll Samantha that she got over the weekend. I was excited that she chose to use the word pretty in one of her sentences! We completed some more alphabetic order worksheets. The first one she had to write the letter that came before and after different letters in the alphabet. For example, D comes before E and F comes after E. We had fun timing ourselves to see how fast we could figure it out. Next we completed a spring ABC order sheet. She first wrote out the alphabet. Then we underlined the first letter in each word. Next she went down the alphabet to find the correct order for each word. We did a cute spring digraph worksheet. She had to cut and paste the beginning blend to words like "flower", "frog", and "storm". In reading she read aloud a level D Raz Kids story about a Teddy Bear. She answered the comprehension questions correctly. She read the story fluently and tomorrow we will start to really focus on level E books.
Today I read Arianna the story of Cinderella. She loved it! She knew the story well and would tell me right before I read the passage what was going to happen next. She read me a story in Raz Kids about big things. I had her draw a picture of something big. She picked a house. Then I had her flip her paper over and draw a picture of something small. She drew a picture of a butterfly. We watched some fun counting songs that counted to 100. We had to get up and move while counting. We also watched a fun 12 months of the year song.
Today Gracyn began her day with her morning work. Then we worked on a fun sentence puzzle worksheet. We had to piece together the order of the words to make a sentence. Gracyn knew right away to look at the word with a capital letter to know which word was first. The next worksheet we did was putting words into abc order. Gracyn first wrote the alphabet on her sheet. Then she underlined the first letter in each word. We went through the alphabet and looked for words that started with that letter. When we got to words that both started with the same letter she circled the second letter and then we looked at her alphabet list to see which was first. She did great with this! Next she read aloud a level D Raz Kids book on frogs. She answered the questions and did great! Gracyn had just gotten a jump rope and a hula hoop the day before. We watched really cool videos of jump roping and hula hooping. She got up and performed! She is doing so well with the hula hoop!
Arianna and I read a few stories together. She really enjoyed the story about the dog who tried to become a wolf. Then we watched our favorite skip counting math music videos. She really gets up and moves to the music. Today she read a story on Raz Kids about the color black. She had to think of something that is black and draw a picture about it. She thought about the black night sky. We had a great time together!
Gracyn wanted to take her spelling test today! She said she was ready. She got all of the words correct except the word "pink." She was able to correct her mistake though. We completed her morning work today and she wrote about her mom and dad in writing. We did a fun worksheet that used the digraphs "th, wh, ch, sh, and ph." The "ph" blend was the most challenging but she got it the next time. We reviewed adjectives. She had to come up with different adjectives for pictures. She used words like the "buzzing" bee, the "itsy bitsy" spider, and the "little" chick. I was so proud of how well she did with adjectives. She was very creative! She read a Raz Kids level D story on animals and answered the comprehension questions correctly. We looked up interesting butterflies that live in the rain forest today. They had the most beautiful wings!
