Lesson Outline
Today Maya watched a couple of video/songs about the 4x tables. These songs help her to retain the multiples of 4. Maya reviewed adding 3 digit numbers using regrouping. In math, Lesson 2-10 Maya practiced using a bar diagram to solve word problems. Maya has learned that picture drawing is one way to organize the facts in a problem, making the solution easier to find. She did great and was successful at solving practice problems. Maya continued her FF program, playing Tomb Trek and Paint Match. In V/V she is transitioning from verbalizing to visualizing. She chose a known noun, which was a cake to visualize. She was asked to describe it the best she could, using all structure words. Some of the structure words are becoming natural to her, and the rest she is able to recall by using the cards. She did a great job, and with some coaching she was able to keep the details consistent. Great work, Maya.

fairytale, comprehension-make and confirm predictions
Lesson Outline
Maya has been asking for a calendar in her room so we started one today. She looked through all of the calendar magnets and classified them as holidays, events or activities. Maya and I alternated reading the fairytale, Little Red Riding Hood. We stopped and made/confirmed predictions as we read, and read with expression to show when a character was speaking. She looked ahead to see the type of way something was said (whispered, growled, shouted, etc.) and used that expression in her voice.

Maya took her 9X table quiz and scored a 100 in under 2 minutes! Super job, Maya! She continued in Topic 2, and learned in lesson 2-8 and 2-9, how to use mental math when adding 2 and 3 digit numbers. She practiced adding 3 numbers, also. She had a great day, and has a good grasp of regrouping ones and tens. Maya continued her FF program. Her weekly report from SciLearn will go out on Saturday. In V/V, Maya emabarked on a new step where she focused on a known noun- her doll. This doll was not present during the lesson so she had to create her own imagery. This was the first time she did not have a picture to refer to. Her doll was a good noun to begin with, as she has seen it many times. She provided an abundant amount of details and remembered to use her structure words. She pictured it on a pillow in her bedroom. This step is part of the Word Imaging step. She is dual coding verbal to nonverbal, creating images after I verbalize the picture she has created for me. Her imagery and memory are being developed. Super work, Maya.
