Formed real words by adding blends to the beginning. Worked on reading words with the welded exception sounds. Patrick is having a hard time staying focused and on topic.
Patrick had a great time at the field trip! He participated in a tour to learn about the different characteristics and uses of the pumpkins and gourds present, participated in a paint center, and read pumpkin books while having a picnic in the shade with friends.
As a warm up, Patrick brainstormed actions that occur while having his snack. Then. we discussed how the root word changes if the tense changes from present to past, by adding -ed. He read verb cards (ex: kicked, wiggled)and determined if the -ed sounded like d or t. He classified the verb cards under the correct heading. I tested Patrick on an RRR Level B again, and the results still show an accuracy rate of an instructional level instead of independent. However, I notice his errors are consistent in the sense that he often makes an assumption on what the sentence reads based on a pattern that author used or what would make sense. I decided to graduate him from level B and move him onto Level C in spite of this.
Today Patrick completed two games in FF, since he wouldn't have time in the afternoon due to our field trip. He also began a new step in VV, where he verbalized imagery about a known noun- a clown. He provided lots of detail and referred to his structure words, when reminded. Our goal is to get to a point where I can tell he is actually visualizing this picture in his mind and providing adequate details which convey the image he has in his mind to another person. Great job Patrick!. He had a wonderful time at the Pumpkin Farm, spending time with his peers and painting a pumpkin. He bought a couple of cool pumpkins to take home.
Today Patrick completed Level 4, Stage 10. He is doing GREAT! He really enjoys this part of the day as do I. It is so much fun to see him cruising along. He is a little typing maniac! He reinforced his ability to type keys x and z, and learned to type the apostrophe today. Patrick continued his FF program. He broke another record in Moon Ranch today. I am so proud of his efforts. I will not be writing many updates pertaining to his FF program since I will be sending out a weekly update each Saturday. These reports will involve extended details. They will be sent out from the SciLearn website. In V/V, he did a word imaging of a monkey. Keep up the good work, Patrick
