snack, sight words, main idea/details, writer's workshop: sketching
Lesson Outline
Patrick practiced reading his sight words "in a flash," and identified them all except "other." He learned 6 new ones today; you, all, who, when, where, and why and added them to his jail wall. He read Going on a Picnic and determined the main idea. Using a graphic organizer, he recorded 4 supporting details to support the main idea. He took the comprehension quiz and scored 5/5. Using his planning sheet from yesterday, he began to sketch a picture of his ideas and add labels. At first, he said it was difficult to draw what he was picturing, but did well once we got started.

Lesson Comments
Patrick is beginning to strengthen at the core muscle level. He tries hard and chuckles and smile a lot. I think he is having too much fun, but that's a great thing.
Today Patrick gave great details regarding a picture of a boy watching another boy surf. He remembered to use gestures and refer to his structure cards. He continues to do well and follow our routine smoothly. Way to go!
