Passing Bills
Lesson Outline
Anna and Quinn had a fun class today. We started by completing a crossword puzzle from their e-studies weekly magazine. This allowed us to review the three branches of government and some other important terms. Quinn remembered that we discussed how Congress passes laws. We played an interactive game on the computer in which Anna and Quinn were allowed to become members of Congress and pass bills. They were able to get a sense of how bills are created and the importance of votes from Congress and the President. They printed out their laws at the end of class and seemed to get such a kick out of it!

Horse Painting and Off Road Track
Lesson Outline
Today Anna finished painting the abstracted background of her painting by mixing up and using different shades of green. With the completion of her painting, we started looking into Anna's next project. For Anna's next project we will be incorporating flowers made from paper egg cartons into a decorative painted motif that is inspired by traditional Russian patterns.

Today Quinn completed his off road course. Quinn glued down sand to reference a dirt track. He mixed up a mucky green paint to incorporate. To finish, Quinn reenforced his obstacles with more glue and used care to cover up white spots that hadn't been addressed.

Counting money
Lesson Outline
Today Anna and Quinn continued learning about counting coins. We began our session by reviewing each coins name and value. We then practiced counting by each coin (1,5,10,25,50). Today's lesson 5-3 focused on counting collections of coins. Anna and Quinn practiced identifying each coin, putting the coins in order from greatest to least and then adding up the coins values. This is still a tricky skill for both Anna and Quinn. We will continue working on lesson 5-3 tomorrow.
