outdoor yoga with nature poses; hooping (hula hoops)
Lesson Outline
Most of class was outside today. We created nature poses on the mat, i.e. sun, grass, tree, palm tree and sunburst. We then practiced hooping, including arm hooping and hand hooping. Quinn and Anna worked hard to learn hooping methods. We then came inside and jumped through the hoops in the dojo. We had lots of "heart strengthening," arm movements and aerobic exercise today. Quinn and Anna seemed to really enjoy taking the challenge on learning arm and hand hooping, and improving their waist hooping.
Anna, Quinn and I did some research on the Native American Indians. We studied a US map, discussed where and how American Indians lived based on the region, We then went to the computer lab and downloaded illustrations of various Indian dwellings, as well as other information for their Native American studies.
