We started working on Marketing today. We went through the syllabus, made a plan for the week, and then started working through the power point materials from the professor. Brandon didn't have the text book yet, so it was difficult to do much more.
Brandon's textbooks finally arrived, so we were able to start reading from the assigned novel. We are making connections between the content in the previous videos (the middle ages and the crusades) and the content in the text (the East in the crusades), which is helping to keep track of where the course is headed, as we are both unfamiliar with the specific course content. We read all of the other assigned readings and nearly finished the chapter. Nice work, Brandon!
Brandon and I watched several assigned videos. They were about 26 minutes each, so it took us some time to get through the viewing. Brandon took notes, but we weren't exactly sure what content the quiz would cover. Luckily, Brandon was able to have multiple attempts on the quiz, but it turns out he didn't need them, having covered all of the quiz content in his notes.
Brandon read through the syllabus for his course titled Civilization of the Modern World. The 12-week course requires students to read and write quite a bit, and I told Brandon that we should keep track of each reading with corresponding notes. After reviewing the syllabus, Brandon completed the "Introduce Yourself" discussion post, and we began the week's readings.
Today we finished going through the material in the first chapter of the reading for this week. We talked about resource planning and the different methods of forecasting the demand for resources. We then talked about Production strategies and how to manage a work force based on demand, and how to coordinate the three stages of production.
Today we started on the new material, and spent a good portion of the class going through the videos and the first part of the lecture for the first chapter. Brandon seemed to have trouble focusing and when topics from last week were brought up, he had no recollection.
We worked on the weekly assignment for half the session, and I think we came up with a really solid answer. For the second half, we worked on the discussion posts for his computer class.
Today we worked on the discussion posts, which we finished pretty quickly, and then moved on to the weekly assignment. Brandon did not retain as much as the information as I would have liked, but it's the first week, and most of it is introductory material.
Brandon continued outlining for his Coming to America midterm, which requires him to answer three questions related to immigration, immigration acts, and different types of immigrants. Each question corresponds with chapters in the text, so I assisted Brandon in outlining which pages corresponded with major components of his responses. After we compiled enough information to answer question 1, Brandon began writing. He completed at least a full page, un-double-spaced, and we will work more tomorrow.
After some thought over the weekend, Brandon informed me that he dropped his Human/Computer Interactions course, saying that he course was a junior level course and that he felt a bit overwhelmed by the course load. I accepted his decision and informed him that he would have to make sure that he keeps track of the courses to be sure to maintain his class status as each semester progresses. Afterwards, we began work on Week 2 of his Coming to America course, and we discovered that in addition to this week's work, Brandon has to complete a mid-term essay due Monday, 11/3. Lots of work to do, but we started an outline for his writing assignment.
