Trevor turned in his homework today. He struggled with some of the problems but did not use his notes or the book to assist him. I explained to him that those resources are available to help him. Rather than waiting for someone to re-explain the problem to him, he should try using the available resources to help him (because this is a skill that he will need in the future). If that doesn't help, he should ask for help in class.

We were able to start working in the stats book today. Trevor continues to be interested in the concepts covered in statistics.
Trevor completed an introductory project today. The objectives of this activity are that Trevor will be able to: 1), identify independent and dependent variables, 2). find slope and write the equation of a line through two points, 3). use excel to find the "best" fit line and its equation, 4). use the "best" fit line to predict future events, 5). determine whether the data set has positive or negative correlation (and have a basic understanding of correlation).

We received one of the two books that we will be using for the course. We will begin chapter 1 tomorrow.
Trevor will be able to: 1). Determine whether a relation is a function (including an equation), 2). Evaluate functions and piecewise functions, 3). Find the domain and range of a function (by hand and by graphing), 3), solve word problems by using functions.
Trevor seemed to gain an understanding of functions, more so than he has in the past. We are continuing chapter 1, which is mostly review of algebra 1 and 2.
