Economics Paper
Lesson Outline
Gio wrote his economics paper. He had to analyze input from four sources: The US President, the CEO of a car company, the director of a senior citizens group, and a labor union for the things they needed from the economy and devise strategies and policies for the government. He had to follow the rubric to maximize his points. Some economic principles involved included the trade off between unemployment and inflation, fiscal and monetary polices, etc.

Anatomy and Physiology:
Muscle system -
Gio and I worked on his homework assignment, including most of the end of chapter questions for the chapter on the muscular system. We reviewed the muscle cells, the different types of muscles (function and form) and the function of specific muscles. Gio was tasked with comparing smooth and skeletal muscles. He listed the muscles of the torso and the appendages. He also listed the bones of the neck, feet, and hands.

Anatomy and Physiology:
Skeletal system -
Gio is preparing for a comprehensive test on the skeletal system. We reviewed the flash cards about the skeletal system. I drew pictures of different sets of bones for Gio to label, including the skull (with all the small nasal bones, sutures, foramen, and plates) and the foot (with the small bones of the fore foot, the heel, the top of the foot and the toes). We discussed the connective tissue associated with the various kinds of joints between bones. We also compared and contrasted the structures of synovial, cartilaginous, and fibrous joints. We did the same for the four types of movable joints (hinge, ball and socket, pivot and gliding). Homework: review flash cards before every meal

Monopolies
Lesson Outline
Gio and I worked on a 500 word position paper on why monopolies are ethical, part of the assignment for the class debate. Then we added two more 150-200 word citations for the annotated bibliography for the Capstone Project. We made great progress. He still needs to finish a bit before handing it in.

Skeletal system -
Gio is preparing for a comprehensive test on the skeletal system. I created a set of flash cards as we reviewed each part of the axial and appendicular skeleton. We completed a study of the feet, legs, pelvic girdle, spinal column, hands, arms, and pectoral girdle. We also reviewed how bones are made during fetal development, and the hormones associated with calcium in the blood. Homework: review flash cards before every meal or snack.

Capstone Project
Lesson Outline
Gio needs to understand that this Capstone Project is far more intensive and unlike other projects he has completed during his school career and this is not merely the task of writing a page discussing how to reduce unnecessary 911 calls.
He scored 30% and 40% on two parts of his Capstone Project and needs to complete the annotated bibliography ensuring that each entry is at least 100 words and that each space and punctuation mark is correct according to MLA Style. We (1) completed all four entries, (2) reworked the project plan, and (3) framed the 5 Guiding Questions for his research. This is a MAJOR PROJECT with various parts.
Gio’s Capstone Project proposal intends

A. To study and assess the strengths and weaknesses of Palm Beach County's current 911 system

B. To research and evaluate alternatives that retain and build on the current strengths of Palm Beach County’s 911 system, but that eliminate or alleviate the weaknesses.

C. Make recommendations regarding a superior system that will reflect 911
“best practices” in the modern era:
1. Effectively triage calls (evaluate the urgency, prioritize, and re-direct to appropriate agency—police, fire, paramedic), rather than the current “First In, First out” practice of responding in the order received
2. Accept video and photo transmission
3. Establish precise geo-location
4. Accept text in various languages
5. Reduce the number of unnecessary calls (for example: non-emergency health questions, traffic, directions, event information and cancellations, directory assistance, and private matters)

D. Present findings to various community organizations in Palm Beach County
1. Fire Rescue
2. Emergency Management
3. County Commissioners
