Gio needed some help with getting through the book for his assignment and writing the 750 word summary and 250 word critique. He still needs to prepare the 3-5 minute oral presentation.

Anatomy and Physiology:
Connective Tissue and Muscle Tissue Labs -
I made flash cards of all the vocabulary words from his study guide on connective tissue and muscular tissue. Gio worked through the cards once before starting on his take-home lab on connective tissue. He matched tissue with the function and description. He then drew pictures, and labeled images of each type of connective tissue. We then repeated the process, using flash cards on muscular tissue. I quizzed him on the types of tissue. Homework: review flash cards.
Gio filled in the graphic organizer for Cantos 1-18 of Beowulf, emphasizing important passages that reveal aspects typical of the epic poem, the struggle between good and evil, several other requested themes, and literary devices.

Anatomy and Physiology:
Epithelial Tissue Lab -
I made flash cards of all the vocabulary words from his study guide on epithelial and connective tissue. Gio worked through the cards once before starting on his take-home lab on epithelial tissue. He matched tissue with the function and description. He then drew pictures, and labeled images of each type of epithelial tissue. We had just enough time to discuss the types of cells that make up connective tissue before class time was over. Homework: review flash cards.

Anatomy and Physiology:
Epithelial and Connective tissue -
Gio and I reviewed his study guide on epithelial and connective tissue in preparation for a quiz on Thursday. We discussed the differences between simple and stratified tissue, and the eight types of epithelial cells ( simple and stratified versions of cuboidal, columnar, and squamous cells, as well as pseudo-stratified and transitional epithelial tissue), noting where these skin types are located. Finally we compared and contrasted connective and epithelial tissue. Homework: review the classification and distribution of epithelial tissues.
Assignment
Homework: review the classification and distribution of epithelial tissues.
Gio used the class Jeopardy game to prepare for his test and I filled in the Review Sheet with the answers that appeared there and in the online text. We did not have time to attend to Beowulf, which we shall leave for tomorrow.
Today we completed the Capstone assignment, which was an intriguing exploration of Gio's personal gifts and talents and how he might share those to build a better world. Gio has many gifts: Being able to relate to and get along with people; persevering to improve a skill, determined to succeed; having a strong desire to do the right thing; being generally in a good mood. He is thinking that counseling might be a good career path. For Bible, we answered two questions about trusting in God that we get the lessons we need to learn.
