Cannot state enough how disappointed I was that Max was not continuing. He was looking forward to the Blues Scale. I was looking forward to teaching him how to read music. From yesterday's assessment, it was apparent that he did not know how to read music.
Max was asked a series of questions regarding his knowledge of music. He was also asked to play anything to assess the level of dexterity and range of note and rhythm values.
After it was assessed that his knowledge was very limited we began from the most basic fundamentals. He picked up the most basic fundamentals very easily. I asked him to play the scale and gave him an example of the difference between major and non-major tonal modes.
At the end of the lesson he was given a preview of his next lesson - The Blues Scale.
Max was an absolute pleasure to teach. His manners and demeanor were lovely.
