Aubrey was given a text to read about innate behavior. Once she read the section, I quizzed her on the vocabulary and challenged her to identify the behavior, and the associated benefit to survival, portrayed in a series of images related to the text. She created a table of her results. She was then directed to the next section on learned behavior. She read the text and, as a test, I gave her a series of questions to research, on innate and learned behavior.
We covered and looked at sample problems for Ch. 9-4 Factoring to Solve Quadratic Equations, 9-5 Completing the Square, and 9-6 The Quadratic Formula and the Discriminant.
Aubrey read the next section of "Flowers for Algernon." We then talked about story themes, motifs, and literary devices. Aubrey discussed how the author used first person narrative through journal entries to place the reader in Charlie's head.
