Danny did an addition exercise today to practice his regrouping skills. He completed eleven problems adding a column of four two-digit numbers together for each problem. We reviewed strategies for adding multiple numbers such as finding a ten or adding the larger number first and he used these strategies to help him with adding.
Danny did math problems today on place value, addition, subtraction, telling time, and finding patterns. He completed word and number problems and used strategies such as drawing pictures or finding tens when solving the problems.
Danny started the lesson reciting the vowel sounds and their key words. He reviewed the sounds of consonants and digraphs: b, g, k, ck, sh, and f. He reviewed the sounds of welded sounds: ang, ong, ing, ank, unk, and onk. Danny read review words: lamp, land, and bat. He was introduced to the current concept of closed vowel sound exceptions: ind, ild, old, olt, and ost. Danny was introduced to the guide words kind, wild, cold, colt, and host. These words were entered into Danny's notebook. Danny needed a vocabulary work up on the words bind, colt, and bolt. These words were entered into the notebook with a definition, a sentence, and a drawing made by Danny. Danny read a large stack of new words with the new sounds. He got confused only on the word "child" saying, /children/ instead. Danny made that correction. He read sentences on p. 51. Danny did a great job getting back into the routine of studying Wilson. He went on to camp with good humor.

Lesson Comments
Danny's lesson was moved up to 9 am because Dylan who was scheduled with me did not come due to a change in the parents' vacation plans.
I support the active time playing with all of the other kids during their recess, so Danny and I jumped in so we could really keep the energy high for everyone.
Boxing Drill, Kicking Drills and how to put the combinations together.
Game of tag.
Hit the moving target....FOCUS & TIMING
finish with meditation for confidence.
This morning, Danny practiced showing equal parts of a whole as 2, 3, or 4 parts and described them as a half of, third of, or fourth of the shape. We also discussed the term quarter as a way to describe a fourth. Danny divided shapes to show the shown equal parts and colored one of the parts. Then, he applied equal shares to real world word problems by drawing diagrams to help divide shares into equal parts. We finished with the chapter test in which Danny used vocabulary terms to complete sentences, circled shapes that matched the angle, side, vertex rule, drew to show halves, thirds, and fourths, and named 2-D and 3-D shapes and their attributes.
