Mapping, Latitude and Longitude-
Chase and I watched a video that establishes the argument for embracing nuclear energy to stop global warming. We discussed why environmentalists that were opposed to nuclear energy would change their stance, and support this energy resource. We reviewed the pros and cons to fossil fuels, nuclear energy, and renewable energy, and included the timeline related to severe effects of global warming. Chase was challenged to form her own opinion on the subject. I then switched subjects and introduced a unit on geography. I had Chase answer a list of questions about maps to establish her knowledge of map reading. We then conducted an activity designed to educate students about latitude and longitude. Mark Recapture Analysis -
Chase and I reviewed the data collected during her field expedition last week. I explained how the data was entered into a specialized database, and added to the larger data collection. This collection will be used to determine the size of this population using mark recapture analysis. Data collected during a previous time period will be compared to a similar period of time that includes the current data set to determine how many new animals were added to the collection. , Using statistical analysis we can make a model of the population and estimate how many animals are part of the local community. We discussed why this would be important information for understanding the ecology of our local marine environment and for conservation processes.-

Spanish Review and Discussion on Travel and Career
Lesson Outline
60 Chase and I discussed her travels to Spanish speaking Costa Rica. She has a house there and goes at least once a year. WE talked about how sticking with Spanish would be extremely beneficial for that reason alone. We discussed SER and ESTAR and why each one is used in a sentence.
We talked about her Career and College and what language she will study. (French) AHHH!
I told her if she immersed herself in a foreign country for a small period of time she would soar to new heights in Spanish. I tried to encourage her to stick with Spanish. We discussed her passion of photography and Alaska and what she believes she will be doing in the future. It was a nice to get to know Chase better.

Journal; irregular verb review; Story - Una guitarra misteriosa
Lesson Outline
30 minutes - We went outside to write in Chase’s journal. This includes: date, time, weather, people and activities at the time we are outside. Today, Chase included a description of her dress for her upcoming “prom”. She wrote in Spanish including many of the new vocabulary words we had practiced on Monday of this week.
25 minute - We returned inside and reviewed the conjugation of irregular verbs, their meanings and how they can be used with idiomatic phrases.
5 minute break...
60 minutes- we continued reading La guitarra misteriosa. As the story evolves, it is necessary to identify the 2 evolving plots and characters involved in each plot. We did this in Spanish - one at a time. Chase is maintaining a list of characters and a vocabulary list.
I will not be able present on Monday, April 2, Chase will have a substitute. Chase has requested not to continue the story with the sub. So she will be doing a complete grammar and pronunciation review with the sub as we have been told the sub is a native speaker. This will be a great opportunity for her to hear another person speaking Spanish and get used to another “accent”.
