He was briefly interrupted by his puppy Jules (2 mins) and then we lost internet connection at Batt School for the last 8 minutes. Sam selected Of Mice and Men as his literature and had difficulty getting started on the IXL Diagnostic.
We read the entirety of Chapter 2 in 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone,' by J.K. Rowling. For the first session, we discussed the sequence of events that transpired in pages 18-26, half the chapter, and Lena answered questions to insure she understood some of the more obtuse figures of speech; she demonstrated good understanding when queried. Lena also demonstrated good recall skills identifying and listing the physical characteristics and personality traits depicted by Rowling as she developed the characters in the chapter. Lena participated in the character summarizations written on the whiteboard and was able to effectively summarize the dynamics amongst the main characters in the chapter.
