Ayden learned about EBSCO host, a free search engine of journal articles, books, and other academic materials that he can look for credible sources about formula one on. We discussed the number of sources he needs from EBSCO and other credible mediums (youtube, F1 website, etc.). Then, he began looking specifically for sources related to his question (reading/watching videos).
Ayden developed his official research topic and question. Topic: Design of Formula One Cars
Question: How have formula one cars changed over time?
Researching resources, adding them and potential questions to his brainstorm on Docs. We learned how to use Snap and Read, and he found a voice, tone, and speeed with which he prefers it to read. He agreed that he wants to continue using it.
Ayden did research on F1 - reading, citing sources, making brief summaries in his Google doc. He is gathering sources which we will use to make an annotated bibliography.

Lesson Comments
Ayden was online. It was great to get back into our work today!
Ayden began preliminary research for his research project. He is planning to research F1 Racing. We have not yet narrowed down his subtopic, or inquiry. For preliminary research, he took a broad look at various interesting facets of F1 and recorded it in a table.
We wrapped up the O*Net Interest Profiler results and compared to the first time he took them. Then, we looked into some applicable majors based on some of the jobs he was curious about. He was not very interested in any of them.
We attempted some self-assessment questions from the University of Alabama's website; however, he was struggling to self-assess and we halted that for now.
Next, we discussed his research project, and defined "essential question" and how to come up with one. Tomorrow, we will begin preliminary research and topic/subtopic brainstorming.

Lesson Comments
Ayden seemed very anxious about college/future today and struggled to participate. Unfortunately because he was online, it was all I could really do with him as I need him in person to begin our new unit.
