Today we used the computer to play chess to build mouse and keyboard skills. Mouse skills required are left clicking while dragging and releasing at the right time. Keyboard requires selecting game type and picture of representative for the game. The game builds skills for protecting and attacking requiring thinking ahead.

Mercer enjoyed playing chess on the computer, which helps to improve mouse control, keyboard skills, and manage problems simultaneously. After our initial 30 minutes, we moved to the lunch room to continue the lesson. Judie then asked to meet with Mercer for the remainder of our session.

Ben is getting better each session but needs to continue to develop keyboard skills (using shift keys and finding keys for symbols). Each time we login he gets better and he seems to enjoy learning. Today we actually played a chess game online part of the time, which helped him with mouse and keyboard skills as well.
Today Hank built more skills navigating through Microsoft Office by creating an additional PowerPoint file. He typed in a title, changed the fonts, and selected a background style for the presentation. He also imported pictures of buildings and we uploaded the file to Teams.

We discussed Microsoft Office for a while but Mercer was highly motivated to play chess, so we did that for a while. I used the opportunity to build logic concepts which will be useful across functions on computer skills later.
We built a PowerPoint presentation and uploaded it to Teams. Hank learned to find and upload pictures to the file and added text to create a title.

Hank and his brother like to tease each other and use inappropriate language. As with Ben, I am working to eliminate this when using email or other computer software going forward. That said, Hank is learning and has an intuitive sense of how to make things work on the computer.
