Spencer quickly and confidently completed division problems that involved numbers 0 and 1. He worked hard while reading a story entitled, 'Family Business'. Spencer answered questions that necessitated looking back in the passage. Focus was on details and sequence.
Matthew was given time to finish an essay for English class.
He was focused and worked diligently during this time.
Matthew then registered for the PERT.
Matthew then worked on some online PERT questions.
Lastly, Matthew had a lesson on the importance of showing - not telling. He was given examples of instances where "telling" fell far short of the experience of "showing."
Tristan completed homework such as, math - factors of nine worksheet and language arts - introduced unit words by reading a selection, "An Emperor Penguin Grows Up", an informational text about life of a penguin, learning vocabulary such as temperature, protect, hunt, fierce, huddle, howl, freezing, hatch, cozy, and slide. Tristan then matched the meaning of the stated words by drawling a line from the word to the picture that matches it.
Spencer used repeated addition to solve division problems that involved numbers 6, 7, 8, and 9. After completing a Halloween word search, he asked to work on another word search. He enjoys the word searches and feels confident while working on them.
Tristan completed homework such as, math - identifying place value. Tristan did wonderfully with this! Tristan and I then finally blasted off his bottle rocket made out of a plastic 2-liter bottle, tape, and pencils. Tristan used vinegar and baking soda to launch his rocket. We experimented with the rocket multiple times testing Newton's three laws of motion. Tristan especially enjoyed this experiment because he got to take his bottle rocket home.
Spencer appeared to be quite tired. He worked on an online program matching a given word to a word in a list and listening to a story and answering questions. He did well completing division problems involving 8 and 9. Together, we worked on a vocabulary assignment that involved completing sentences with vocabulary words.

During this time, I drafted an email to Matthew's team to discuss his current homework load.
