Spencer got right to work on his homework as soon as he walked into the room. He read his spelling words and wrote them in sentences. He continues to benefit from reminders to use capitalization and end punctuation. Spencer did well practicing multiplying by ten.

Tristan completed homework such as, math - two-digit by one-digit multiplication; reading - primary phonics, "Mac and Tab", reading short a words; and science - sum it up activity, reviewing the scientific method vocabulary.
Tristan completed homework such as, math - one-digit times two-digit multiplication; word work - cutting and pasting words and pictures and matching word families - 'ad', 'ap', and 'ag'.

It was a struggle to get Tristan to complete homework today. For math, he wanted to use a calculator for math but I told him that we do not learn that way. For word work, I cut the pieces as he dictated and glued. I love working with Tristan during science time. However, homework is a struggle with him. We did not have time to complete science homework so we will complete this during science tomorrow.
Spencer began the hour by talking about how much better it is to get his homework done right away. We talked about behavior and decisions having consequences. He chose to do handwriting practice first, followed by multiplication problems. Spencer matched some of his vocabulary words with descriptions given. He did well writing the steps to making guacamole using time order words. Capitalization and end punctuation were encouraged.

Spencer could hear Tristan resisting doing his homework. He talked about how much better it is to just get the homework done.

Spencer took his time and worked carefully on his prewriting handwriting skills practice. He read, 'The Lost Duck', a book he brought from home. Spencer was pleased with how well he read the text. He wrote a sentence about the beginning, middle and end of the story. Capitalization and end punctuation were encouraged. Spencer quickly, confidently and accurately multiplied single digits by 10. Spencer asked to research the crocodile fish to see if it was real and how it moved and camouflaged itself in the ocean.
