Geometric Series
Lesson Outline
I continued the final explanation of Geometric Series for Sam today. I reminded her of the formula for the sum of the terms for a finite and infinite Geometric Series, and of how to test for converging or diverging series. She completed exercises 1-15 odd, 33, 35, 37 on p.628. I then had her take a Practice Test on Sequences and Series. She used a sheet that summarized the various formulas she would need.

Final Project Autobiography - Final test review
Lesson Outline
Today, Sam and I reviewed information about autobiographies. I prepared an activity in order to have a clear idea about this final project (Caracteristicas de una autobiografia, ejemplos de biografias, Definicion de la "Real Academia Espanola" Organizacion de ideas para escribir mi autobiografia, Personas influyentes en mi vida incluye entrevistas sobre datos del nacimiento de Sam como por ejemplo a su padre, Describir rasgos de su personalidad, Quien soy?, Mis metas y recomendaciones.Sam was able to learn about the process of writing; brainstorm ideas, write a draft, revise, edit, finalize draft, and write the final project in order to be able to write effectively and with detail about her personal history (family, friends, neighborhood), growth, and goals over time. At home Sam is going to read and take information from this activity so she can complete her autobiography. Part of her work is to read examples of published autobiographies to help understand effective writing techniques used. Then Sam will be able to complete and turn in the final autobiography this coming May 28/2019. Sam and I reviewed all the topics to study for the final test (textbook - pages 9-13-21-34-35-39-47-50-51-56-58-59-69-82-93-111-130-132-134-135-143-167-1891-182-184-195 and numbers/letters/verbs).

Geometric Series
Lesson Outline
We went through exercises that asked Sam to write an Arithmetic Series in Summation Notation. I showed her how to find the explicit formula for the Series.
I introduced a Geometric Series, which is the sum of terms of geometric sequence. I showed her the sum formula for finite and infinite geometric series. They converge (get closer and closer to a sum) if the absolute value of the common ratio is <1. A series diverges if the absolute value of the common ratio is >1. We can identify if an infinite geometric series converges or diverges based on the common ratio.
