Richard continued his session working on TH words in conversation and in structured sentences. The repetition today seemed to help him. Initial TH sounds were most improved today. Also worked on some memory strategies for recalling facts about a story read aloud to him. He did a nice job with these strategies. We will continue with them next week. Finished up session with a short conversational sample with a familiar adult- cued Richard that I would be listening for TH.. much improved 85% accuracy.

Noah was upset during the transition but settled down after about 1 minute. He showed the clinician his Christmas card and named all of his family members. He was very proud. Multi syllabic words in short sentences focusing on L sound- 75% accuracy. Sending home L blends (claw, blanket, flute, gloomy, play, and slug) because L blends seem to be the most challenging.

Noah is doing a significantly better job communicating his wants and needs using sentences. He is using 5-6 words together when he requests, protests and comments. He is also starting to be able to go back and forth with some beginning conversational skills.

We finished with WHERE questions- he did not need a visual cue on 5 of them today which is a huge improvement. He was 75% accurate.
Overall significant improvement with articulation and language skills today.

Chris had a great session today. He greeted the clinician with a question. Today we focused on conversations and how they work. Chris had a difficult time remembering the 'flow' of the conversation. We worked on how conversations consist of back and forth questions and comments. We discussed how it is important to 'shoot back' the question to his conversational partner.
Attempted 5 conversations and he did not send back the question or continue to the conversation but rather tried to change the topic of the conversation. We discussed topic shifting and how it should not be done abruptly but rather waiting for a break in the conversation. We discussed saying things like 'that reminds me...' or 'that makes me think of...'
Tried to get Chris to come up with 5 conversational topics but this was very difficult for him. He was able to come up with 1/5 topics.
He said that he was tired today.
Finished the session with a recap of what he learned and he was able to describe what a conversation entails.

Chris was eager for the session to commence this morning. He arrived needing to "organize" himself and his belongings. He was eager to discuss a multitude of topics, and his overall arousal state was observably high. Brief review of the familiar "zones of regulation" color chart was helpful as Chris was able to identify his current state. Brian Gym strategies were embedded within the session to best support Chris modulare both his rapid topic shifting as well as physical impulsivity.
Chris shared that his "Brain was jumping today" as we revisited familiar aspects of self reflection, presupposition and communication success.

Chris was eager to initiate conversation today as he had numerous new "plush" toys with him to share. Conversational reciprocity was noted with increased frequency of cycles and stronger allowance for exchange. Periods of speaker- speaker overlap were greatly reduced this session.
In addition, Chris was observed to utilize a variety of "comment acknowledgement" markers followed by contingent comments 9/12 opportunities this session. Topic shifting was somewhat rapid today, however, increased use of transition phrases was noted. Review of /s/ phoneme production across phrases was a focus of today's session as well. Strong session.

Noah transitioned very well into the session today. After not seeing him for a week, I was very impressed! Ms. Judie got a present for Noah today which was a great language learning experience. Noah took the vet/dr bag and did a 'check up' on Ms. Judie today as well as Pluto. We worked on him vocalizing 'can I check you?' 'Im going to look at your ____ now.' Noah became pretty shy doing check ups but it was great practice for his language skills and practicing answering questions.

Noah focused on answering and asking questions. We did where questions today 6/10. He requires a prompt to answer 'You wear socks on your ____.' when asked where do you wear socks.

Overall I want to to continue focusing on asking/answering questions especially with other people! It is a great way to encourage increasing sentence length and working on articulation. No jargon/nonsense speech noted today.

Christopher started out the session reading his story 'mario claus' that he made up in the previous class. /s/ in 90% of opportunities while reading out loud. Christopher independently asked how my Thanksgiving was without prompt. He transitioned into discussion about his plush Santa that he made. During the conversation, we discussed other things that he likes to do other than plushies. He shared some ideas but immediately came back to discussing about plushies. He is doing a much better job switching topics/transitioning topics but continues to stick to one topic.

He also discussed that it is his sister's birthday and what the plans were for the night. We discussed having conversations with his sister's friends and finding out what they might be interested in.
Came up with different ideas for conversation.. initially said he may not talk to any of them but agreed on asking them about Christmas/holiday plans.

We came up with a list of questions/conversational topics for a peer next week.
1. Hi , what did you do on your trip?
2. Who did you go with?

Small conversational sample to target /s/. 90% accuracy with no cues.
