Noah had a difficult time transitioning into the session today. After about 5 minutes, he was warmed up and ready. He requested to play with pop the pig. Worked on complete and clear sentences. Then he requested magna-tiles. Worked on WH-questions-
Where do you sleep? 'I sleep in a bed noah'
Where do you sit? 'I sit at a table'
Where do fish live? 'In the boats'
/l/- 60% accuracy in single words, with mod cues, able to produce /l/ sound correctly in words-
Some of the wh-question responses were unintelligible. Continue to work on articulation and wh questions next week.
Richard did a nice job with multi syllabic words today. Worked on Richard coming up with a variety of sentences using multi syllabic words. Most difficulties with TH and some /s/ sounds. In conversational speech he is requiring minimal to moderate cues to produce 'th' correctly. With a cue, he can do it immediately but when he is excited or in a rush to share something he is not producing it independently. Went over the definition of categorization again, 60 minutes later, and he was able to recall that it is 'something that makes it easier to remember.' He was able to name a variety of topics and the categories within each category without cues.
Richard did a nice job greeting the clinician today. He required moderate cues to recall the definition of Categorization which he focused on last week. Initially he called it organization which was close. With moderate cues he was able to define what it is and with a few more cues able to discuss what it is used for. Worked on using the skill of categorization to name as many animals, fruits, vegetables, animals, and colors he could in 60 seconds. Richard did get stuck a handful of times and repeat items multiple times. Will continue to work on this.
Chris was eager to initiate conversation across a myriad of topics this morning. Familiar supports to allow for increased speaker /listener reciprocity were facilitative as speaker-speaker overlap diminished throughout the session. Enthusiasm was strong this session and overall arousal state was high as well. Review of the "How does your engine run?" color zones was beneficial, as increased modulation was subsequently noted. Topic transitions were supported with familiar scaffolding strategies and Chris successfully utilized familiar transition phrases 6 times during the session.
Noah had an excellent session today. He took a few minutes to transition into the session but participated well. Noah worked on action picture cards ( verb + ing). Noah did a nice job of using the present progressive -ING but required cues for pronoun+ is. Noah also worked on multi syllabic words for increasing his intelligibility. He did a great job, 80% accuracy.
Continued to work on categorization. Had Richie explain to another teacher what categorization is and what it is used for, he did well. Worked on TH in conversation 80% accuracy. Richie did a nice job today with his L blends and S sound production at the conversation level.

Richard did an excellent job today working on categorization. He is really starting to understand how chunking information into categories can help him recall information but also helps him store information in his head. He is starting to independently learn to do this. Richard came up with an activity today to build a tower. During this building, speech sounds were practiced. Richard was in charge of finding a judge, explaining to the judge what the competition was, and then telling the judge what we needed him to do. He did an excellent job explaining this information.
Medial TH loaded sentences 'they both have ____' and Richard filled in TH words 8/10. Most difficulties with "both."
Today was Noah's first session. PLS-5 was administered to examine his expressive and receptive language skills. The GFTA was administered to examine his articulation skills. A report will be provided to Noah's family with observations, scores, and goals.
Richard had a great session.
Played a game while working on TH in conversation. 75% accuracy.
Grocery store recall:
discussed ways to help him recall, initially he said he did not need any help but decided to use a pen and paper and draw pictures.
Started working on categorization when needing to recall chunks of information. This helped him significantly. When he was able to think about categories and then name items his accuracy improved significantly.
Category naming in 60 seconds
Fruits- 8
Veggies- 8
Things to drink- 11
Animals- 21 (his best one and he started to categorize where the animals live and then name them which helped him get more!)
