Zeta's lesson began with a review of polyhedrons and their attributes. We looked at how to classify and describe different prisms and pyramids by their properties and how to classify three-dimensional figures with curved surfaces that are not polyhedrons. Then, we looked at how solid figures can be "unfolded" to form two-dimensional models of the figures. The surface area of the solid figure could then be found by the sum of the areas of the flat surfaces. Zeta and I applied the surface area formulas to different prisms, pyramids, and cylinders.
Zeta and I went over her revisions and edits of her five paragraph essay. She practiced typing and has only 2 keys left to learn on the bottom row. Zeta did well choosing the vocabulary words that best completed the given sentences. She completed a spiral review of learned grammar skills. Zeta did well on an assessment of 'Al Capone Shines My Shoes'. The assessment included matching, multiple choice, short answer and essay questions. Short answer and essay questions were typed.
Zeta continued watching a Broadway production of Kinky Boots. We finished the play and had a discussion about it. We planned for our next stage makeup class.
Zeta continues to progress in speed and accuracy when typing. She did well on a spiral review of learned grammar skills. Zeta was tasked with choosing the vocabulary word that was a synonym/antonym of the given word or phrase. She enjoyed using different types of figurative language to complete given sentences. Today, we completed reading 'Al Capone Shines My Shoes'. We discussed the title, the main recurring theme and the arc of the plot. Tomorrow, Zeta will complete a final assessment on the book.

Lesson Comments
Zeta was asked to complete revising and editing her five paragraph essay. She completed the first two paragraphs saying that her mother told her to go to bed so she could not finish the assignment.
This morning, Zeta took the unit test on perimeter and area. She answered questions on how to find the perimeter of polygons with unknown sides, find the area of irregular figures, used formulas to find the area of parallelograms, triangles, and rectangles, found the circumference and area of circles, and used a pentomino to model and answer questions related to a given situation, scoring an 84%.
