poetry, prefix review, 'Al Capone Shines My Shoes'
Lesson Outline
An etheree is ten line poem, the first line having one syllable and each succeeding line adding a syllable. Zeta and I looked at examples of etheree poetry. She did very well creating an original etheree. We reviewed what onomatopoeia is and brainstormed examples. The prefixes de-, post-, trans- and sub- were reviewed. Zeta did well determining the meaning of words that contained these prefixes. She used the words appropriately in sentences. We read the next chapter of 'Al Capone Shines My Shoes'. Zeta answered questions related to characterization, theme and cause and effect.

Unit Test
Lesson Outline
Zeta completed the unit test on equations and graphs this morning. She determined if given relations were functions, found ordered pairs for given equations, matched equations to coordinate planes, matched equations to patterns from a table, and determined the y-intercept from given x-values. She also graphed ordered pairs on a coordinate plane from slope-intercept form equations. We finished with review problems on using the order of operations to solve expressions.

Weather
Lesson Outline
This morning we answered the question, "where does the wind come from?" with a discussion of a short video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCLwbqmacck
Then, we learned more about clouds and why they don't fall out of the sky despite being full of water: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjByja9ejTQ. We ended today's session with a discussion of extreme weather events and impacts of increased global temperature.

critical reasoning
Lesson Outline
Zeta watched a Brain Pop video on critical reasoning. She learned the process of reasoning, what makes a claim valid and sound and how to analyze a claim. She earned a 100% on a quiz on the video. Zeta practiced breaking down arguments into claims, reasons and conclusions.

vocabulary, keyboarding, grammar, 'Al Capone Shines My Shoes'
Lesson Outline
Given a sentence fragment that includes a vocabulary word, Zeta did well choosing the word or expression that best completed the sentence. She continues to practice keyboarding. At times, she benefits from encouragement to look at the screen rather than the keys. Zeta was tasked with proofreading sentences and correcting verb tense, spelling, apostrophes, and end punctuation errors. Zeta wrote her prediction of what would happen in 'Al Capone Shines My Shoes' and how she thought the book would end.

Unit Test
Lesson Outline
Zeta and I reviewed how to graph using the slope-intercept equation y=mx +b, graphing the y-intercept first before using the given slope to plot the second ordered pair. Then, she began the unit test on equations and graphs which she will complete tomorrow. Questions were related to finding the value of variables by undoing 2 or more operations and how equations can be used to represent patterns or rules as well as how equations can be used to represent situations.

poetry, grammar, keyboarding, 'Al Capone Shines My Shoes' reading comprehension quiz
Lesson Outline
Zeta shared the couplet poems she wrote for homework. Today, cinquains were introduced and explained. Zeta wrote a clever cinquain about quarantine. She was tasked with creating another cinquain for homework. Zeta earned a 94% on the second half of her grammar quiz. She continues to practice typing letters on the home row and the top letter row. We hope to start the lower letter row next week. We read the next chapter in 'Al Capone Shines My Shoes'. We discussed methods and word choice the author utilized to create a sense of danger and suspense. Figurative language in the chapter was analyzed. Zeta earned a 100% on an online reading comprehension quiz.

Slope-Intercept Form
Lesson Outline
This morning, Zeta and I continued to work with coordinate planes by solving word problems, interpreting the meaning of points plotted on xy coordinate grids. She read through problems and found the correct quadrant, ordered pair, or distance between ordered pairs. Then, Zeta graphed using the slope-intercept equation y=mx +b, graphing the y-intercept first before using the given slope to plot the second ordered pair.

Zeta started a WebQuest on Lewis and Clark. Throughout her quest she will have to learn and document information about the expedition. She will navigate various websites to identify various aspects of the journey including: where and when they traveled, who they met, and their discoveries. Using the information, she will create an online journal using the Google Slides.
