Today he reviewed his list of verbs and then learned vocabulary about the new chapter: We are going on a trip. After, he read about the steps to follow when traveling to another city, what to do at the airport and when you arrive at your destination.

Matthew read in the target language. He also worked on vocabulary in the target language.

However, the most impressive thing that Matthew did was to translate an entire paragraph in Spanish. On his own, he was able to render a translation with about a 70% accuracy which is excellent for this level of text. We then worked together getting him to the full translation.

While working together, we highlighted the details that allowed us to arrive to that more refined translation. Those details included phrases using hacer, the specific tense of the conjugations and the like.

Bella read from the text.

She read a recipe for Chicken and Rice. We discussed the recipe.

She read a little bit of background information about this recipe.

Bella worked on the software developed by the text authors to help with her vocabulary.

Matthew and I read from his supplemental text.

We finished the section that we had started before spring break after briefly reviewing what we had read prior to the break.

We took turns translating the text as we went.

Matthew then pre-read the next section while underlining the vocabulary that he will need to know to comprehend that section of the text.

Matthew was given a brief amount of time to look up some of those words.

We then switched to his text. We read about ways to stay active and healthy in Spanish speaking countries from around the world.

Bella was absent today.

He was absent today.

Bella and I discussed quality content for her to read in Spanish.

She read biographical information in her target language. We discussed language patterns, vocabulary, and themes.

Bella took a practice test today.

She scored a low B on the practice and generated a list of specific items to work on before the actual test.

Bella then read from the text. We read a conversation about cooking and paella. She translated the conversation.

Matthew was given a practice vocabulary test in preparation for his exam tomorrow. He then made flashcards for any of the words that he missed on his quiz.

He then read, translated, and summarized 2 paragraphs from his supplemental text.

Lastly, Matthew read two poems. One of the poems was by Lorca the other was by Paz. We dissected the poem by Paz discussing the themes, word choice, and poem structure.

Today we continued working on the sports chapter. He looked for information about the sports that are practiced in Panama and then completed the notebook. Then we worked on his project about Panama and he took a little practice quiz for his exam.
