We then started his work on his Spanish supplemental text. Matthew and I discussed the text briefly and the approach we will take. We then took turns reading from the book. As we read, he highlighted unknown words according to a predesignated color code.
He was then shown the proper form for recording his efforts each day as he reads.
We built upon Matthew's current understanding of using the subjunctive when expressing wishes and desires in Spanish.
We involved Matthew in metalearning and active review by asking him to predict the content that may be present on one of his review pages.
He then was taught new material concerning using the subjunctive to discuss objects that may not exist. He was given time to copy down a list of subjunctive specific verbs. He was shown sentences using those verbs. We listened to the sentences in other accents.
We took a practice quiz of 10 problems. He then took a graded quiz of 10 problems.
