In this activity, GT was preparing for his second major test in Calculus. This portion of the test had applications of the derivative. This included tangent lines and the analysis of rectilinear motion.
In this activity, GT used parametric equations to determine derivatives of vectors parallel to tangent lines. These vectors were parallel and normal to the curve.
In this activity, GT reviewed applications of derivatives. The applications focused on position, velocity and acceleration functions. These functions were used to analyze rectilinear motion.
In this activity, GT worked with parametric graphing. This type of function defines X and Y in terms of a third variable T. This type of function is very useful in programing computers and graphing vertical lines.
GT spent a significant amount of time outside of class answering questions and finding supporting articles/current events on multiple Economics topics.
We then used our time together during our last class to present his answers and findings in order to exemplify his understanding of the concepts.
Topics included:
- Consumerism
- Division of Labor
- Socio-economic Segregation
- Indicators of a "Healthy" Economy (i.e. GDP, Unemployment, and the Business Cycle)
- International Trade/Interdependence
- Tariffs
- Public vs Private Goods...

This entry is to account for 5hrs outside of class that he worked on for HW/a final presentation discussion grade.
I couldn't enter a "0" for the scheduled session time, so I put the minimum required - 15

He did a great job researching the topics and explaining what they are as well as how they apply to our current US economy and how they'd apply to a potential, future business that he might own/run.

I accounted for 5hrs for out of class work (separate session summary entry) plus our 2hrs in class together today to provide him with 7hrs towards his final course amount.

TEAMS: Taxonomy / Animals - Behavior -
Today GT completed a comprehensive exam on the Animal kingdom. We then continued a discussion on the advances in cognition that evolved with the classes. The mammal brain has more areas dedicated to learning. We explored the cerebrum and the ability for higher forms of memory. We then examined animal behavior, from innate, to acquired, to learned. Using marine mammals we explored examples of each behavior, and discussed how they always relate to reproductive success. We made plans for our field trip this weekend.

TEAMS: Taxonomy / Animals - Mammals -
After reviewing the things we learned yesterday, GT and I proceeded to the last class: Mammalia. We examined the criteria of the class mammal, including hair, endotherms, that have lungs and four limbs and also some big advances in brain anatomy, endocrine, circulatory, and reproductive systems. We explored the three types of mammals (monotreme, marsupial, and placental) and the differences between oviparous, viviparous, and ovoviviparous. Finally we examined the pros and cons for each strategy. We watched a film of a kangaroo being born, and crawling into the pouch, and an echidna laying an egg, and nursing without nipples.
